It’s the Most Wonderful Time…

The presents have started rolling in, even though we are still 21 days until Santa makes his rounds.

On Thursday, our team jackets arrived. We held a quick team meeting Friday night after our regular practice to hand them out. The kids have been working very hard and Dean wanted to celebrate their successes while handing out the jackets. Everyone was blown away with them and our team looked great walking into the arena on Saturday afternoon. It made it much easier to spot our little Ice Raiders around the arena.

Sunday afternoon, we met up with Santa at the Delta Chelsea hotel. It was my staff Christmas party and even though we were in and out in just under an hour (had to get to hockey practice, of course), the kids still manged to cross all of their ‘must haves’ off their list. They had ice cream, did some coloring and crafts, chatted with Santa and left with a gift. Finn was a bit disappointed to open his gift and find a scooter, but after a long discussion on the merits of generosity, and the fact that Santa is watching, Findley has decided to donate his gift to his school toy drive.

Bronwyn was shy to talk to Santa at first, but with her daddy’s help she was able to get up next to him, hold his hand and let him know that she wants “everything pink for girls” for Christmas this year. Her brother said hello to Santa, but didn’t want to tell him what was on his wish list. Findley claims that it didn’t matter because he was “just a mall Santa” and he had already sent his letter in to the real Santa.

I like his confidence, and I’m glad I had a chance to see the letter before he mailed it. Now to sort out the pink request…
