An Uphill Battle

I used to think I was an organized person. I can keep hockey, lacrosse, swimming and gymnastics schedules straight, I can even get out and organize a bit of time for myself. I am rarely late for work, arrive at appointments five minutes early and know exactly what is in my fridge and what is on the shopping list. Apparently, that is not enough when you have kids in full-day school.

I won’t lie – it has been a bit of a struggle for me this week. Not the “oh, my boy is off to school, boo-hoo-hoo” kind of struggle. My struggle is the “I have to leave in five minutes, Finn’s lunch is not ready, Dean (at the last minute) wants a lunch today too, the kids are in the bathroom and I have to brush my teeth” variety.

I’m sure we will settle into a routine in due time. For now, it just seems like so much more work to get our clothes picked out and lunches made the night before, fill out another school form and crawl into bed.
